North Central Washington has been blessed with an abundant clean and renewable energy supply which has helped contribute to a strong economy and a healthy environment. Washington State needs a balanced energy and environmental policy that recognizes our hydroelectricity as an abundant and renewable resource. State energy plans should also take into account a balanced mix of generating resources to meet future statewide demand. Energy supplies from tidal, solar, wind, geothermal, gas, and biofuels will be an important part of the overall state portfolio and will help to meet state needs as the economy grows. As the energy industry continues to phase out its coal-fired plants, the state should support new and existing renewable resources and promote the clean energy technologies available.
